Documents

These are samples of the documents that I have created while at Durham College.

Brochures

I have created several brochures for assignments. One for Circulation, one for adults to promote Early Literacy (for the Read-A-Thon, to get parental buy-in),  and one for Students to explain the virtues of reading (again, for the Read-A-Thon).

Circulation Policy

For the fake library of “Southwest Nowheresville”, a Circulation Policy. The full document is available for viewing.

Collection Development Policy

I elected to create a mock Collection Development Policy for a real Catholic High School in the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board. Challenging, but rewarding. CDP Assignment Back to the About Page

Comic Book Current Awareness

I had a great time creating a Comic to promote a new collection in my invented library. Three full installations were created and miniaturized versions of book covers were inserted into the comic panels. (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3)

Infographic for Circulation

To support the Circulation Procedure, a poster was created for high-traffic areas as a visual representation of a text document.

Memo, Email, and Letter

I like to take the time and attention necessary to properly communicate my meaning and intention. Here are just a few examples outlining how I strive not to embarrass myself or the institution which I am representing.

Reading Initiative Poster

With a partner, the following “Caught Reading” poster was created. My responsibility was for arranging the time with Sparky the Fire Dog, getting the Catching Fire book, and the taking of the photo. Editing was completed by my partner.

Selection Assignment

Microsoft Excel (and spreadsheets in general) are very much powerful tools in any library environment. This is an assignment that I completed outlining the purchases that I had made for a new collection at my mock library.

Survey Analysis

Reports are never fun to write, but they are a necessary part of library life. As such, I do have experience creating a survey, deploying it, and writing a report about the findings.

Technical Fact Sheet

Jing by TechSmith is a piece of software that I have used many times for screen capturing tutorials. As such, I felt very comfortable using this software as the basis for my Technical Fact Sheet.

Walking Tour Poster

In my very first semester, we were given an assignment to deliver a Walking Tour. I contributed this poster, a quick website, and a promotional video.

Training Document about Hand Selling

I was lucky enough to attend the Ontario Library Association’s RA in a Day event in 2016 and I created an infographic and a video to share the learning that I had with staff from my institution. Below is the infographic that I created (the video is under videos).
